Spring is in the air!

Finally, we are peeking out from under our woollens, down jackets and boots here in Munich. Yesterday the Hub and I were able to meet up with friends at the biergarten and we stayed long past dark, chatting and finishing up those big beers.  It was wonderful, and I really hope that the sun decides to stick around for a while.

Spring ahead!

A couple of weeks after the States have already changed their clocks, we "Spring Ahead" here in Germany this Saturday night/Sunday morning.  This week we have had highs in the 60's (F) to welcome in the official start of the Spring season...so what's a girl to do?  I know that I need to store these sunshiney days in my mind for when the cloudy part of spring comes along.  But, for now everyone in Munich is happy and walking around town with smiles on their faces, the cafes have set out their sidewalk tables and chairs,  I've seen the first naked sun-worshipers in the English Garden, and the Biergartens have opened!  It is too nice outside to stay inside and work. So....why fight it, right?  Prost!

SPARGEL SEASON!

Yes, dear friends, Spargel Season is just getting under way here in Munich...for a limited time, the white, thick asparagus delicacy is appearing in the fruit and veggie stands all over town once more.  This is a true herald of Spring!

Spargel is kept buried until harvested, so it never turns green...what it is buried under, well, you might not want to know if you will be eating it (manure...).  But if you do fancy a taste test, the Hollandaise mix is right there next to it...seems rather monochromatic to me, but to each their own!  No matter, Spargel is fun to say and was my first German word.  For that, it will always have a place in my heart....so say it with me with some gusto: SPARGEL!

ps: my mother right now is wondering who in their right mind would by a Hollandaise sauce mix, when it is so easy to make...hey-I never said they were good cooks here...
